In 2024, China's lithium-ion battery (hereinafter referred to as "lithium battery") industry will continue to grow. According to the lithium battery industry specification announcement enterprise information and industry association estimates, China's total output of lithium batteries 1170GWh, an increase of 24%. The total output value of the industry exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan.

In the battery sector, the output of consumer, energy storage and power lithium batteries from January to December was 84GWh, 260GWh and 826GWh, respectively. The installed capacity of lithium batteries (including new energy vehicles and new energy storage) exceeded 645GWh, an increase of 48% year-on-year. Affected by the decline in the price of lithium battery products, China's total lithium battery exports from January to December reached 434.8 billion yuan, down 5% year on year, and narrowed by seven percentage points from the decline in the first half of 2024.

In the first-stage material link, the output of positive material, negative material, diaphragm and electrolyte from January to December was about 3.1 million tons, 2 million tons, 21 billion square meters and 1.3 million tons, respectively, an increase of more than 20%.

In the second-order material segment, the output of battery-grade lithium carbonate from January to December was 670,000 tons, an increase of 45%, and the output of battery-grade lithium hydroxide was 360,000 tons, an increase of 26%. From January to December, the average price of battery grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide (micro-powder grade) was 90,000 yuan/ton and 87,000 yuan/ton, respectively.
